News From The Road

Our new self-titled album mastering is complete! We had a great week in Boulder, CO mastering with David Glasser at Airshow Studios, hanging with friends and shooting photos for the new album (see sample above).

From the Great Rocky Mountains, we headed east. We had a great time in Missouri and Kansas and were blown by tornado strength winds up into Omaha where, as expected, we had a blast playing music with our buddies at Barley Street Tavern. We were kindly put up by Omaha’s emerging Indie Folk Rock band Midwest Dilemma and headed into Iowa from there. We hit up Des Moines, Dubuque and Davenport and are now making our way to Chicago for a show with our friends Miss Shevaughn and Yuma Wray at The Elbo Room.

We are extremely excited to head south to meet up with our friend Laura Meyer with whom we’ll be sharing a handful of shows with all around those Smokey Mountains, including an appearance on WDVX Blue Plate Special on Monday Nov. 8th! You can TUNE IN ONLINE for this special appearance…

We are continuing to work on album art and are VERY excited to share our new recordings with all of you early 2011! We will be having a series of “Pre-release” shows where we will be selling physical copies of the album HOT off the press before it's available online! Stay tuned for these dates!!

PEACE!

Mega Tour continues....Northwest!

From the hot deserts of the Southwest to the soggy soils of the Northwest, we have been non-stop since early August, and we’re “take’n names” !

This rainy evening in Seattle, we are sitting at The Blue Moon waiting for 9pm to roll around while listening to pool cues and deep conversation. We will be sharing the night with local bands Joshua Melum And The Powers That Be and Jesus Chords!

Tomorrow we make the long drive to Missoula where we will be sharing The Top Hat's stage with San Francisico rockers The Stone Foxes (this band is managed by Gwyneth's highschool buddy Joe Barham AKA "Joe Rock"). It will be well worth the long drive.

After Missoula, we have a string of shows including Coeur D’Alene (ID), Spokane (WA), and Ashland (OR) that will lead us home to the Mendocino Coast for a special show in Westport at The Abalone Pub on Friday September 24th followed by a whirlwind of a day at Caspar Fest where Gwyneth will perform with Foxglove at 1pm and Gwyneth & Monko will play at 3pm right before the Gorse Monster Parade! Later that night, catch Foxglove at The Headlands Coffee House in Fort Bragg.

We will be in the studio for the last week of September finishing up our new album due out early next year! Stay tuned!

A "Mother-lode" of Work To Be Done!

This month, we are up in the Sierra Foothills taking a break from tour. Although we are lying low, it sometimes feels as though we are working harder than ever. These days, when are not preparing for the national Cd release of our “Good Old Horse” EP (July 20th), we are busy writing new songs, working on the pre-production for our new full-length album (due out in January), and as always, busily booking shows and promoting for our approaching summer/fall tour.

One of the best parts about being here is that we are re-united and finally get to hang with our beloved 4-legged friends. Hymo, the cat is lying low in the incredible heat we’ve had, while Daisy Mae and Ginger are out romping around and enjoying their big yard.

For the Fourth, we stayed home, but all watched the fireworks going off down the hill in Sacramento. Sitting on the back porch while listening to our favorite Carpenters record with fireworks in the distance…. Life is good, and we are gearing up for more goodness to come.

The Preservation at The Historical Caspar Inn

Saturday night in the sleepy historical logging town of Caspar, Ca, proved to not be sleepy at all this past weekend as we and The Preservation (Austin Texas based band) blazed the stage of The Caspar Inn.

Folks came down from the hills and out of the ocean for this highly anticipated show at the north coast’s favorite, and last standing, historical roadhouse. Fans gathered from a rare sunny day on the coast, where they may have been elbow deep in the local agricultural commodity, or possibly abalone diving among the bull kelp forests.

For us, The Caspar Inn’s 104 year-old stage is our favorite place to play when home from our busy tour schedule. Over the years, we have had the honor of playing this world famous club/B&B (Bed and Beer) not only together, but with other notable local Mendocino County bands including but not limited to The Blushin’ Roulettes and Foxglove. These local groups, in some form or another, have had the opportunity to open for acts such Wayne The Train Hancock, The Devil Makes Three, Blue Turtle Seduction, The Shaky Hands and Emily Jane White.

As we did our best to play our most rockin’ tunes, featuring songs off of our soon to be released EP “Good Old Horse” (official release date July 20th), we could feel the anticipation in the room for the Cosmic American music of The Preservation. During the break, while the bands switched over, the sound of sea lions barking could be heard on the cliffs not more than 200 yards away.

With 6 top-notch Austin musicians, The Preservation dazzled the crowd with their spot-on 3 part harmonies, bumping bass lines, gritty guitars and keyboard, trumpet and, of course, the bell-pepper shaker and tambourine. The sound of boots stomping, yips and yells of the crowd along with the roar of the Pacific Ocean created a truly cosmic American experience for sure.
